Cabin (900 sq. ft.) in Indian Lake, NY
1.4 miles from Indian Lake
Lake Abanakee Camp is more like Lake Abanakee Home than a camp, with brick fireplace, hardwood and nice quarry tile look vinyl flooring, natural wood cabinets and walls, birchbark themed kitchen wallpaper (nice kitchen), and lots of Adirondack touches from rug to artwork to lamp/end table. The 'screened porch' is actually a room off the kitchen with 2 windows that have screens when opened. There is a nice view of the lake across a quiet neighborhood road from all 3 of those rooms. The small wading beach is not ideal for swimming (kids will like it) because the water is shallow at this spot but there is a dock for boating. You will spend many pleasant hours and meals sitting in the chairs by the water. You might see the doe and fawn along the shore to our right as well as at different times duck and 8 tiny ducklings, 6 geese, and loons can be heard throughout.. An active osprey nest is atop a pole in the middle of the causeway. The double lot with the lawned sideyard on one side of the house provides privacy, and the neighbor on the other side never uses their dock or waterfront next to ours, so it gives you more of a feeling of having this section of the lakefront to ourselves. Friendly community (people wave); quiet at night. You might want to climb up Chimney Mt to a fine view from some of the rock formations at the top or kayak/fish on the lake. There is a nice small swimming beach, convenience store, and a few eateries a couple miles away in the town and more trailheads along the road to beautiful Blue Mt Lake with state owned islands, just one of many paddling experiences nearby in addition to miles of exploration in Lake Abanakee itself. Approximately 4 miles long and ½ mile wide, Lake Abanakee winds around islands with nesting osprey and eagles. Both large and small mouth Bass are abundant, as are the more elusive Northern Pike. The plentiful pan-fish population will keep the beginning fisherman interested, while the experienced hand can attempt a larger catch, including Muskie and Walleye. Lake Abanakee is exceptionally quiet. Rare is the loud motor boat, though trolling motors are welcome. Paddle enthusiasts will find hours of leisurely touring. Or, travel up the Indian River and over a wooded portage to experience Indian Lake. NOTE: this is a cabin in the woods, there will be wildlife. This rental includes the use of kayak and row boat at your own risk..Lake Abanakee Home has a lot going for it! Check in is 2pm, check out is 10am. THIS RENTAL ONLY RENTS PER WEEK FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK JULY AND AUGUST, PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST SHORTER STAYS DURING THESE MONTHS, No Pets, no smoking, no linens are provided, you must supply your own sheets, towels, etc. There is also no housekeeping so you will be responsible for that also, leaving the house in clean condition. We make no guarantees and are not responsible for anything that may not be functioning but will do our best to correct the issues. thanks for looking!

Cabin in Lake Pleasant, NY
9.4 miles from Indian Lake
Step back in time for a true Adirondack experience. Romantic and exceptionally private spot with lots of wildlife sightings. Sleeps up to 4 in two queen beds plus one single bed. We cannot have pets here, sorry. Sip that first cup of morning coffee on the wrap around deck while listening to the birds welcome in the day. Take breakfast to your lakeside gazebo, and try spotting the beavers, eagles, loons, mergansers, egrets and other wildlife sharing our slice of heaven. Kayak, canoe or paddle board out onto Lake Pleasant for a dip. Nighttime is for star gazing, roasting marshmallows and tall tales around the fire. 2 sets of binoculars, a spotting scope, 2 kayaks, one canoe and 2 stand up paddle boards with adult life preservers are provided. Please note: in summer we have a one week minimum, all arrivals and departures must be on a Friday. What is unique about this property is the privacy, the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, but town is just a short drive away. Hiking, road trips, museums, tennis, golf, restaurants available nearby, but you may choose to never leave the seclusion of this property. Quoting one recent guest: "we felt like we were dropped into a fairy tale land". You will have access to 2 cabins while here. The log cabin is a studio with an open floor plan, fireplace, kitchen, bathroom and sleeping loft with one queen and one twin bed. Flat screen TV with Netflix, no cable. Great 50/50 fiber optic internet. The classic wrap around porch is furnished with Adirondack chairs, dining table, grill, fun night lighting and one truly magnificent view. The second cottage sits about 100 feet from the log cabin. Set up as a luxury bedroom, with queen bed, chandelier and incredible lake views, this was designed to provide the ultimate "glamping" experience. We supply nice bedding and linens, bath mats, kitchen and hand towels, but we do ask guests to bring their own beach and bath towels. What's to LOVE about this property? Ultimate Privacy (a rare find on the waterfront!), Views, Wildlife, Cuteness, Uniqueness, Authenticity and Plenty of Room to Roam. Boats, binoculars and a list of hikes are all supplied, we really do all we can to assure that you will enjoy the ultimate Adirondack experience. What might you NOT love? Our lakefront is accessible for launching the kayaks and paddle boards, but not for swimming. To swim you take the boats through a short river path (50 feet) to the lake and swim off of them. There is no washer/dryer here. We do not have a/c (rarely needed), but we do have lots of ceiling fans. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here, they are not picked up by the town, so our rule here is similar to camping: If you brought it in, you must agree to take it out. Due to our close proximity to the lake and semi-remote location, we have a sensitive septic system and limited well water. As a result, this property cannot to be used for family reunions, parties or entertaining. No more than 4 people to be here at any time. No pets, no smoking and no parties here. Disclosure: There is a security camera on the driveway to monitor arrivals, departures and deliveries and weather.

Cabin (300 sq. ft.) in North River, NY
10.2 miles from Indian Lake
This delightful newly-built cabin with gorgeous beautiful mountain views offers privacy and sounds of the brook below. Camp TwoSome was built for just two (or maybe three) ... cozy, sweet and lovely. Located on a quiet road surrounded by woods. Elsewhere on our family compound, we offer a Japanese hot tub for private booking experience $25 charge, on-site walking trails through beautiful wildflower meadows and most nights, wood-fired pizza. Close to rail biking, white water rafting and 13th Lake for swimming and kayaking. Enjoy gorgeous mountains views of the Gore Mountain range in this brookside newly built cabin. Camp TwoSome is a sweet “new old” cabin is modest in scale, simply furnished so to not detract from the richness of the views --- it offers a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin is located on a 40 acre family compound where we have four glamping tents and four cabins with plenty of privacy between each. There is a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the mountains. Vintage oriental rugs, beautiful drapes and antique lamps. There is a cozy bay window where one could read, or sleep. The bay window overlooks a brook far below with a beautiful canopy of trees above. The bathroom has a nice shower and vanity. There is plenty of hot water, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner for your use. The kitchen is fully stocked with a stove, an undercounter fridge, toaster, coffee making things and of course a sink. There are good pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution. Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color. Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book! Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By the time the wood fire has died down, the oven is about 800 degrees. From six-thirty to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. Let us know if you plan to join us. We also have toppings if you don't wish to bring your own. As for things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC. If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you. Stretched over the 40 acres we own, we have four glamping tents (Glamp Richard, Glamp Suzanne, Glamp Thomas and Glamp Bernice) and five cabins (Bird Camp, Farmstand, Camp HudsonView, Camp TwoSome and our new Camp Lillian). All are listed on this site. ARCHITECTURAL NOTES: The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner Leslie and her small team of tradesmen during the winter of 2018. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees, and the knotty pine interior trim was locally sourced. A great deal of thought and energy went into planning this cabin. Like a tree grabbing a roothold in the slope, reaching down for water and minerals and arching up toward the available sunlight, a house must begin and grow from its site. When the design of a house has grown out of the uniqueness of the site, it will seem as natural and as integral a part of the whole as trees are a part of the forest. When the house becomes a part of the land, the site can be fully inhabited. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. MORE ABOUT THE PROPERTY: Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost. When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxon Mountain and the Hudson River below. Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters. I had a wonderful winter of 2018 working with my small crew to build this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as we spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."

Cabin (800 sq. ft.) in North River, NY
10.3 miles from Indian Lake
Lovingly restored historic Adirondack Bird Camp is surrounded by wildflower meadows with beautiful mountain views. Located on family compound of glamping tents and unique cabins. Wildflower meadows to wander, a private firepit for star gazing and just down the road from beautiful 13th Lake. Enjoy a hot tub experience in our new Japanese temple-like spa! Most nights we offer wood-fired pizza. Close to rail biking, whitewater rafting and the town of North Creek. Lovingly restored by the great-granddaughter of the original owners, this unique historic cabin still retains many original details and decorations. Many visitors say they feel like they’re stepping back in time. There are lovely leaded glass windows, a handsome rustic stone fireplace, richly stained wood walls, beautifully faded oriental rugs and original china. There is a tidy new country kitchen with reclaimed porcelain sink, new gas stove, fridge, microwave, dishes and utensils. Upstairs are two bedrooms each with a double bed, wide pine floors, and country décor. And at last --- after 100 years of our relatives using an outside “privy” back when this was just a summer “camp”, we have a bathroom -- clawfoot tub with shower hoop and beautiful vessel sink on original ladies wash vanity. Towels and soaps provided. The bathroom window offers the best view of the mountains. There are treasured family hand-me-downs as well as odds and ends which nobody felt comfortable throwing away. Like all family camps, there are bits and pieces of everyone who came before; wooden floors record the scuffs and scratches of generations. There are many photographs showing life at “camp” since the turn of the century. All this gives this Adirondack cottage its own special personality, a unique sense of space --- a treasury of feelings, sensations and memories of family and friends. The house sleeps four to six comfortably: there are two bedrooms each with double beds. On the glassed in porch is a single bed and there is a sofa in the living room. The land is truly spectacular. In summer, wildflower meadows spill down the hill, flanked by beautiful forests. We welcome your well-behaved dog as long as he or she stays OFF the furniture, isn't left alone in the house and stays on leash to protect our chickens and ducks. The Hudson River is at the bottom of our little mountain. In the spring, summer and fall, there is white water rafting for reasonable rates. You can also rent a tube and float down river (the nearby rafting company can rent you the tubes, then pick you up and then bring you back). Of course, the river offers fishing, bathing or just a great place to sit by and think. Let us know if you would like to book. We have a happy lab dog Sammy who enjoys spending time with our guests. We have free ranging chickens (get some eggs from the henhouse) and sweet waddling ducks. Most nights in the summer, we offer wood fired pizza. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. From six to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. So make time to get away! It’s an easy scenic drive from NYC --- just go north right up Route 87, get off just past Lake George and then a beautiful 30 miles through the mountains to our place. If this cabin is booked, take a look at our cabins and glamping tents.

At the edge of a wildflower meadow with mountain views, this beautifully furnished glamping tent has two queen beds, lamps, Oriental rug and private deck. Each tent has a kitchenette in the Lodge. There is a sweet new Bath House with separate women's and men's sides. Enjoy wood-fired pizza and our new all natural wood hot tub. Get fresh eggs from our henhouse. 40 acres of meadows, woods, pond, streams and trails. Nightly bonfires, star gazing, a nearby lake and rafting in the Hudson River below. Golf cart service to your tent. We have four glamping tents, Glamp Richard, Glamp Suzanne, Glamp Bernice and Glamp Thomas which are spaciously set apart for privacy yet an easy walk to the Bath House and the Lodge where each glamping tent has its own kitchenette. The tents have a “fly” over them so they stay remarkably cool during the day and completely waterproof. At night, zip up the canvas windows and doors, and stay cozy under handmade feather quilts. The new Bath House has a women’s side with two toilets, a shower and double vanity with glass vessel sinks; ditto for the men’s side. In the nearby Lodge, there is also a lovely new bathroom with an old-fashion claw foot tub where you can enjoy a deep bath with lavender salts. We provide nice towels and soap. In the Lodge, there are individual kitchenettes for each of our four glamping tents. It has a sink, one burner cooktop, coffee maker, compact refrigerator, dishes, cutting board, glasses, utensils, napkins and basics of salt, pepper, sugar. Bring your own coffee and cream. There are open shelves for you to store your groceries. Outside are several charcoal grills and a gas grill. We provide charcoal and lighter fluid. We spent the fall and winter of 2019 building an amazing all natural cedar hot tub. Located on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our new Japanese wood hot tub is a delightful treat for our guests. Built within a small post and beam temple-like structure with gorgeous views of the mountains beyond and wildflowers below, our spa tub is a wonderful way to relax during your stay. $25 for an hour’s retreat of happiness. Most nights in the summer, we offer wood fired pizza. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. Starting around six o’clock and ending about eight, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Oh, most toppings should be sautéed in advance since the cooking time in the oven is so short. (Requested donation of $8 / $5 for children to cover costs of firewood, dough, etc). At dusk, we get the bonfire going so guests can relax in hand-built Adirondack chairs to watch the fire and the stars. There is no “light pollution” so it is an amazing experience to see thousands of stars, night clouds, moonscapes. Enjoy getting your breakfast eggs from the henhouse. Our flock of chickens and ducks are fun to watch as they free range all over the property. The ducklings enjoy it when there is fresh water run into their little swimming pool --- they are so joyous when they’re in water. The ducks are sweet but shy away from people (oh no! humans!). Unlike the chickens that wander all day and come back together to the coop only to sleep, the ducks are co-dependent and stick together all the time; if one duck is separated, they all quack until they get back together. So yes, country life can be noisy with the chickens cackling and the ducks quacking! And of course there is Sammy Dog, a lab/shepherd mix, who bounds around the property, visiting all our guests, laying down on the porch and steps waiting for people to come home. Be careful coming down the driveway because he sometimes leaps unexpectedly in front of cars all goofy and happy. He can come in and even sleep over if you want (just send us a text message so we know where he is). Our cabins are set up for visiting dogs, but unfortunately we cannot host dogs in the tents. The lake is three miles down the winding road …13th Lake it is called and it is just beautiful. Totally natural and quiet with no sign of civilization on its shores. The Hudson River is at the bottom of our mountain; clear beautiful water; you go tubing or rafting with the various rafting companies located right nearby. The town of North Creek is five miles away off the main Route 28 road but it’s easy to miss so look for the 3 or 4 signs that mark the entrance to “town”. North Creek is a scenic little town with some great restaurants, a grocery store, liquor store, some shopping places and a scenic train called the Saratoga/North Creek Railroad which takes folks in antique train cars along the Hudson River. Another great experience is nearby Garnet Hill Lodge, an historic lodge offering lunches and dinners … beautiful property, amazing views, great food. It’s located right up the road in North River. They rent mountain bikes and have all kinds of walking trails. Lots and lots more to do … check our online Guide Book for more suggestions! So .... So .... Enjoy amazing mountain day views and glorious stargazing by night ... this might be the most special vacation you’ve ever had! Quiet and tranquil … safely and privately located at the edge of our Hobby Farm where you can enjoy a beautiful tent, ducks and chickens, and sweet lab dog. If you're looking for additional space, we have other cottages on the property as well ... Authentic Adirondack Bird Camp which has two bedrooms, Farmstand Guest House. Camp Hudsonview and our newest Camp TwoSome (each with one bedroom), all of which are listed on this site.

Cabin (300 sq. ft.) in North River, NY
10.3 miles from Indian Lake
At the edge of a wildflower meadow with mountain views, this beautifully furnished glamping tent has two queen beds, lamps, Oriental rug and private deck. Cabin (350 sq. ft.) in North River, NY
10.4 miles from Indian Lake
Camp Lillian a sweet “new old” cabin is modest in scale, simply furnished so to not detract from the richness of the views --- it offers a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin is located on a 40 acre family compound where we have four glamping tents and five cabins with plenty of privacy between each. There is a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful south facing views of the mountains. Vintage oriental rugs, beautiful drapes and antique lamps. There is plenty of hot water, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner for your use. The kitchen is fully stocked with a stove, an under counter fridge, toaster, coffee making things and of course a sink. There are good pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware. The cabin is cozy warm in winter with electric heat. W There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution. Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color. We are only five miles from Gore Mountain for downhill skiing and three miles from Garnet Hill Lodge for cross country skiing (and dining!) Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land (a very short walk from this cabin), our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book! SUMMER ONLY: Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. Most nights (not all) From six-thirty to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. As for summer things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC. If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you. ARCHITECTURAL NOTES: The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its hostess/owner Leslie. A small crew framed the house in November and Leslie had a lovely winter doing all the inside carpentry and painting during the winter.
